Man accidentally shoots 14-year-old cousin to death in Manila

A 14-year-old boy died after he was accidentally shot in the head by his cousin in Tondo, Manila on Thursday morning, Feb. 8.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect who voluntarily surrendered as Edu Crisostomo, 22, a resident of Tondo, Manila.

Authorities said that prior to the incident, the suspect and the minor victim were playing with a gun inside the suspect's house around 11:30 a.m.

They said that while playing with the gun, it went off and accidentally hit the victim in the head.

The victim was immediately rushed to Tondo Medical Center but was pronounced dead at around 6:36 p.m. due to his injuries.

MPD Homicide chief Dennis Turla said that the gun used in the accident was illegal and was owned by the suspect.

The suspect is now under the custody of MPD. Charges are being prepared against him.
