Gunrunner killed in clash with cops

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Police killed a suspected gunrunner in an encounter during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bakod here on Friday morning, February 9.

A SUSPECTED gunrunner was killed in a buy-bust operation in Nueva Ecija on Friday, February 9.

Undercover lawmen were able to purchase an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver from the suspect Jonjon.

However, Jonjon sensed he was dealing with police officers and drew a gun and fired at them. Police returned fire, killing the suspect.

Recovered from Jonjon were two Smith and Wesson caliber .38 revolvers, four FCCs for caliber .38 and 9mm, and four bullets.

Despite his death, police will still file charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act) against him.
