Marcos guarantees jobs for all in Bagong Pilipinas

President Marcos assured the public that everyone would have jobs under the 'Bagong Pilipinas" (New Philippines) that his administration has been promoting.

Marcos said this as he welcomed reports that the country's labor force participation climbed to 66.6 percent in December 2023, and the employment rate also rose to 96.9 percent.

In a post on his X account, the President vowed that the government is committed to fostering a conducive and enabling environment for employment growth.

"Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang pag-unlad at kasaganaan ay hatid sa bawat tahanan, sapagkat tiyak na may magandang trabahong naghihintay para sa bawat Pilipino (In the New Philippines, progress and prosperity is ensured in all homes because jobs are guaranteed for every Filipino)," Marcos said.

In his post, President Marcos said he was pleased to see the significant progress and resilience in the country's labor market.

He also lauded how the country's unemployment rate dropped to 3.1 percent while the underemployment rate also decreased to 11.9 percent.

According to Marcos, these developments indicate an improvement in job quality and stability and that there were now more opportunities for the workforce.

"This positive momentum is attributed to robust growth across all major industry groups, with construction, agriculture, and services leading the way," he wrote.

With this, President Marcos vowed that the government is committed to fostering a conducive and enabling environment for employment growth.

"We will continue to implement both demand- and supply-side interventions, including pro-investment reforms and strategic partnerships, to attract more investments," Marcos said.

"The enactment of initiatives such as the Public-Private Partnership Code and the 4PH Housing Program will further stimulate economic activity and create more job opportunities," he added.

President Marcos said the government shall also pursue up-skilling and re-skilling initiatives and promote innovation to prepare the workforce with the necessary skills and adaptability to thrive in many high-quality employment opportunities.
