Marcos, Duterte see 'slightly' higher net satisfaction ratings in Q4 2023 — SWS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte ended 2023 with higher net satisfaction ratings, based on the 4th quarter Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results.
SWS vice president Jay Sandoval gave a presentation of the survey results during the SWS Survey Review on Thursday, Feb. 8.
The results showed that President Marcos had a +47 net satisfaction rating, which SWS classifies as “good.”
Sandoval said that President Marcos’ current rating is slightly higher than +44 in September 2023, which was also categorized as “good.”
Net satisfaction rating is the difference between those who were satisfied and those who were dissatisfied with a specific government official’s performance.
SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of at least +70 as “excellent,” +50 to +69 as “very good,” +30 to +49 as “good,” +10 to +29 as “moderate,” +9 to -9 as “neutral,” -10 to -29 as “poor,” -30 to -49 as “bad,” -50 to -69 as “very bad,” and -70 or lower as “execrable.”
“The general observation here is that there seems to be honeymoon ratings for the different presidents that we have had. Honeymoon meaning they started high and tend to end up having lower net satisfaction ratings,” Sandoval said.
This is demonstrated by the ratings of former presidents Corazon Aquino, Fidel V. Ramos, Joseph Estrada, and Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
However, Sandoval said we will have to wait and see what the trend is with President Marcos.
The +68 net satisfaction rating that President Marcos received in December 2022 was followed by +56 in March 2023, +58 in June 2023, +44 in September 2023, and +47 in December 2023.
‘Very good’ net rating for VP Sara
Sandoval said Vice President Duterte’s net satisfaction increased as well, going from +57 in September 2023 to +61 in December 2023.
Duterte’s net rating was +77 in December 2022; it was then +69 in June 2023, +57 in September 2023, and +61 in December 2023.
During the survey review, SWS also disclosed the net satisfaction ratings of other high-ranking government officials, including Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri (+44), Speaker Martin Romualdez (+28), and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo (+32).
The Fourth Quarter 2023 SWS survey was conducted from Dec. 8 to 11 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide.
The sampling error margins are ±2.8 percent for national percentages, and ±5.7 percent each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
