Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter Laufey has won the first Grammy of her career for Best Traditional Pop Vocal for her album"Bewitched."

Laufey received the award during the pre-telecast ceremony for the 66th annual Grammy Awards held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California Sunday night (Monday morning, Manila time).

Competing against Laufey were Pentatonix, Liz Callaway, Rick Lee Jones, and Bruce Springsteen.

In her acceptance speech, Laufey thanked her family and team who supported her throughout her music career.

"Wow! Thank you so much, this is incredible. I never thought in a million years that this would happen. I would just like to thank my lovely team, my parents, and my grandparents for introducing me to music," Laufey said.

She also thanked the classical and jazz communities for being her guide.

"The classical and jazz community that have taught me so much. I owe everything to them, and lastly, the biggest thank you to my twin sister. Who's my biggest supporter and has helped me through this most exciting time of my life," she added.

Her album "Bewitched" was released in Feb 2023. The carrier single "From The Start" became a chart-topper in Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

After headlining a sold concert in the Philippines in 2022, the 24-year-old artist has become a staple name on the music scene with her classical and jazz music vibes.

Last month, Laufey announced that she was making a comeback in the Philippines for her "A Night at the Symphony" concert.

She will perform alongside the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at the PICC Plenary Hall on May 28 and May 29. The concert is presented by Karpos Multimedia.
