In July 2023, Filipino actress Kathryn Bernardo was named Outstanding Asian Star at the 18th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) for her role in 2 Good 2 Be True TV series produced by Star Cinema and Netflix. Bernardo played the role of a nurse named Alisson Fajardo and shared screen time with Daniel Padilla (Elorde Borja) in the most-watched series on Netflix Philippines in 2022. Bernardo is the second Filipina actress to be given the award after actress Belle Mariano of He’s Into Her (2021).
The SDA is an annual awards ceremony held in Korea that honors excellence in global television production, presented by the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and the Korean Broadcasters Association.

Following her achievement on the international stage, a Senate resolution in honor of the young actress was filed by Senator Lito Lapid in September.
As stated in the resolution, “Kathryn Bernardo, a talented and accomplished Filipina actress, has consistently showcased her exemplary skills, dedication, and passion in the field of acting, captivating both local and international audiences, including Filipinos residing abroad.”
Bernardo started her career as a child actress in the ABS-CBN series It Might Be You (2003), and played her first main role in Super Inggo (2006). She also joined the cast in Krystala, Vietnam Rose, and Goin' Bulilit.
In 2010, as Mara David/Mara Del Valle in the remake of the TV drama Mara Clara, Bernardo was catapulted to stardom with co-star Julia Montes. The show received high ratings and a nomination in the Telenovelas & Soap Operas category at the 2011 Banff World Media Festival.
Her remarkable TV acting career spanned the following TV series: Princess and I (2012–2013), Got to Believe (2013–2014), Pangako Sa 'Yo (2015–2016), La Luna Sangre (2017–2018), and 2 Good 2 Be True (2022).
In 2004, Bernardo first appeared in the film Gagamboy, and bagged the lead role in Way Back Home in 2011. She joined the Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 franchise, Regal Film’s entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival. The following year, Bernardo and Padilla starred in the romantic-comedy movie 24/7 in Love, then joined comedian Vice Ganda and Padilla in the 2012 MMFF entry, Sisterakas. In 2013, Bernardo co-starred with Padilla in her first solo project film from Star Cinema entitled Must Be... Love. She also headlined in the films She's Dating the Gangster (2014), Crazy Beautiful You (2015), Barcelona: A Love Untold (2016), and Can't Help Falling in Love (2017).
A consistent crowd-drawer, Bernardo is the first and only Filipina actress who breached the ₱800-Million mark for the top-grossing movies, The Hows of Us (2018), and Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019). She was hailed as the "Box Office Queen" of her generation by People Asia for this feat. She was listed as one of Asia-Pacific's most influential celebrities on social media by Forbes Asia. Bernardo was also given the "Box Office Queen" award for the blockbuster movie Barcelona: A Love Untold at the 48th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards.
Bernardo won Best Actress at the 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, and Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards for Movies for her work in The Hows of Us. She also received the same award for her role in Barcelona: A Love Untold in 2017.
