Francis Casey Alcantara and Kaichi Uchida absorbed a 6-4, 6-4 loss to fellow unseeded rivals Taiwanese Yu Hsiou Hsu and Indian Arjun Kadhe in the Chennai Open on Wednesday, Feb. 7, in India.

The Filipino-Japanese tandem fought tooth and nail with their rivals in the opening round of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour event, but misfired in the crunch, allowing Yu and Kadhe to escape with the win.
Yu and Kadhe took charge early when they broke Alcantara and Uchida in the third game before holding their own for a 3-1 lead en route to the set victory.
It was almost the same scenario in the second frame when the Taiwanese-Indian duo took a 3-1 upperhand, until Alcantara and Uchida fought back by winning the next two games to tie it at 3-all.
The Filipino-Japanese pair, however, dropped their serve in the seventh game, allowing Yu and Kadhe to regain the momentum that saw them attack the net ferociously.
