Woman killed, 2 companions hurt by speeding vehicle

BACOLOD CITY – A woman died and her two companions were injured after they were hit by a speeding pick-up truck in Barangay Pahanocoy here on Tuesday night, February 6.

Police withheld the names of the 53-year-old fatality and the injured aged 21 and 22.

Police Capt. Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said the victims were walking on their way home when the allegedly speeding vehicle hit them.

Mercado said they came from a nearby hospital to visit a relative of the fatality when the accident happened.

The fatality was declared dead in a hospital while the two young men sustained suffered minor injuries.

He said the pick-up truck driver, a senior citizen, has been released from police custody following a settlement with the victims’ families.
