ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City Water District implemented water rationing starting Tuesday, February 6, due to the continuous decline in the water level of its treatment plant in Barangay Pasonanca here.

“This is due to a 10 to 20 percent reduction from normal production of Pasonanca water treatment plant due to the PAGASA-declared El Niño affecting the Tumaga River,” said the ZCWD.
Water will be supplied for only eight to 11 hours per day depending on the area specified in the schedule released to consumers.
Areas affected are barangays in the Central and East coast.
Barangays in the west coast were subjected to water rationing early in January due to the drop in water level at its bulk water supply system operated by Primewater.
Water rationing had been announced and postponed several times due to the arrival of rain.
However, the volume of rainfall was not enough to fill the required level at the water treatment plant.
The ZCWD have advised consumers to conserve water and keep water stored in clean and covered containers.
