Two successive tremors measuring magnitudes 5.0 and 5.1 occurred in Surigao del Sur on Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, based on the earthquake monitoring of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on Phivolcs’ data, the 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred at 10:44 a.m., followed by the 5.1-magnitude earthquake at 10:56 a.m.

The epicenters of both earthquakes were located near Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said both events were tectonic or caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
It also said that it does not expect any damage or aftershocks to occur.
