Road closures in Binondo for Chinese New year festivity


DPWH prepares for Binondo – Intramuros Bridge opening next month
Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will be closed on Feb. 9 for the grand fireworks display in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

The Manila Police District announced that some roads will be temporarily closed in Binondo from Feb. 9 to 10, to give way to the fireworks and parade in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Authorities said the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will be closed from 12 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9  for the preparation of the grand fireworks display.

The southbound lane of Jones Bridge will be closed starting at 7 p.m., while the northbound lane will be closed at 10 p.m. for revelers who will watch the fireworks at 12 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Plaza Cervantes and Quintin Paredes Street from P. Burgos Avenue to Dasmariñas Street will be closed on Friday and Saturday.

The MPD said it will soon announce the additional roads that will be closed for the grand parade slated on Saturday in Binondo.

It also asked the public to visit its Facebook page to get updates on road closure announcements and alternate routes.

Meanwhile, motorcycle riders were advised to park their vehicles in a well-lit area and put a disk lock or padlock to avoid any motor-napping incidents during the celebration.
