Mom gets P100,000 on 100th birthday from Muntinlupa LGU

A mother received a cash gift of P100,000 from the Muntinlupa City government when she turned 100.

Mercedes Padua, born on Jan. 1, 1924, of Ilaya in Barangay Alabang received the centenarian cash gift from Mayor Ruffy Biazon who visited her at her home on Feb. 6.

Biazon said this was not the first time that she met Padua. In March 2022, Biazon visited her area to provide support to those who were affected by a fire.

“Nag-selfie ulit kami ni Nanay Chedeng pagkatapos ng masayang kwentuhan. Nakakatuwa dahil at her age, malakas pa at masiyahin pa si Nanay Chedeng (Nanay Chedeng and I had a selfie again after our happy conversation. It’s gladdening that at her age, Nanay Chedeng is still strong and happy),” said Biazon.

When Biazon asked her what she would do with the P100,000, she said she would go to the Alabang Central Market where she used to have a stall.

All Muntinlupa residents who reach 100 years old will receive a cash gift of P100,000 under City Ordinance 18-147 passed in 2018 and Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.
