H.E. Amb. Juha Markus Pyykkö was accompanied by his wife Mme. Riitta Laakso and H.E. Amb. Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin with Mme. Fischer Mellbin. NFNL Commander, Commodore Fracisco G. Tagamolila Jr., PN, acted as the host during the visit at Naval Detachment Mavulis. The visit was also attended by Hon. Sabas C. de Sagon, Mayor of Itbayat.

Last week, Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael “Dan-Dan” Mellbin and Finnish Ambassador Juha Pyykkö visited the Naval Detachment Facility in Mavulis, the Philippines’ northernmost island, marking the first time ambassadors have achieved this milestone.

During the visit, the ambassadors had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the security challenges faced by the Philippines.

In their remarks, both ambassadors highlighted their countries’ support for upholding a rules-based international order and commended the Philippines for its commitment to regional security and adherence to #UNCLOS.

The ambassadors also unveiled a special marker to commemorate their historic visit to the naval detachment unit.
