Switzerland's top diplomat is coming to the Philippines to discuss the European nation's current status of bilateral relations with the latter.
As the two nations mark the 67 years of their diplomatic ties, Swiss Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis will meet Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo in Manila for a one-day visit on Feb. 8.

The two diplomats will talk about their "views on multilateral, regional and global issues of mutual concern," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Cassis' itinerary will also include meetings with other Philippine high-level officials, it added.
Before visiting the Philippines, Cassis will be in China from Feb. 6 to 7 for China-Switzerland Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to Chinese media.
He was also in India on Feb. 5 for a talk with Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
"Foreign Minister Cassis’ trip to Manila will mark the first time since 2008 that a Swiss Foreign Minister is visiting the country," it said, noting the warm and friendly relations between the two nations.
"More than 15,000 Filipinos reside in Switzerland, which include professionals in the IT, engineering, medical and allied health sectors," DFA added.
