BACOLOD CITY – A sexagenarian died and his grandson was injured after their car collided with a Ceres bus and hit a mango tree in Purok Gumamela, Barangay Calumangan, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Monday, February 5.

Police identified the fatality as Jaime Perido, 67, of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental and the injured as his 18-year-old grandson, a student.
Perido was on his way to this city on board a sedan driven by his grandson when the car reportedly overlapped on the opposite lane and hit the left side of the bus which was on its way to Bago City. The car swerved and crashed into a mango tree.
The two victims suffered injuries and were taken to the Bago City Hospital. Perido was declared dead on arrival.
The bus driver was placed under police custody, pending a meeting with the victims’ family.
