SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- Stall owners affected by the fire that razed the public wet market in this city on January 11 have received P10-million cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
P7.5 million came from the DSWD Field Unit 1 while P2.5 million was provided by the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.
The city government of San Fernando City listed 1,156 registered stall owners affected by the fire.
Recipients received aid through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V, who worked on the assistance, said computation of aid would depend on the assessment of loss and damage sustained by recipients.
