A magnitude 4.9 earthquake jolted Mountain Province at 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs located its epicenter at five kilometers (km) northwest of Tadian, Mountain Province.
The tremor with a shallow depth of 10 km was tectonic or caused by the movement of an active fault near the area, said Phivolcs.
Meanwhile, it was felt at Intensity III (weak) in Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur.
Its instruments also recorded the quake at Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) in Aringay and San Fernando City, La Union and City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs said possible damages may occur, but aftershocks are not expected.
