34 hurt in Mountain Province jeepney crash

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Thirty-four persons were injured in a passenger jeepney crash in Barangay Caluttit, Bontoc, Mountain Province on Monday morning, February 5.

Police Major Ryan Wakat, Bontoc police chief, said that the jeepney which came from Barangay Maligcong here lost its brakes while descending a road in the area, forcing the driver to ram the vehicle into a tree stump.

Police rushed injured passengers to the hospital.

Wakat said 23 injured have been discharged and the remaining 11 are still at the hospital for further observation.

He advised motorists here to check their vehicles before traveling to prevent such accidents and avoid overloading.
