The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Feb. 5, said the dominant weather system prevailing in the country is the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

Weather expert Aldczar Aurelio said in PAGASA's latest live broadcast that the easterlies and the localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated rain showers, and thunderstorms to Metro Manila and the rest of the country in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur in the affected areas in times of severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Aurelio said the northeast monsoon locally known as "amihan," which brings cold winds from the north has "weakened."
"Kasalukuyan, mahina na po ang epekto ng amihan at malayo na po sa ating bansa (Currently, the effect of "amihan" is weak and it is already far away from the country)," Aurelio said.
