TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 34-year-old pregnant policewoman died in a hit-and-run incident in Barangay Ipil, this city, on Sunday, February 4.
Police Master Sgt. Prudencio Atas, spokesperson of the Tabuk police station, identified the victim as Police Staff Sgt. Revelyn Dumaquing, 34, a Tabuk police station investigator and a resident of Barangay Dagupan West, this city.
Atas said that Dumaquing was driving a motorcycle on her way home after visiting her sibling in Barangay Ipil when she was accidentally bumped from behind by a Sports Utility Vehicle driven by Carlito B. Balutoc, 63, from Barangay Lucog here.
Balutoc left the victim lying on the highway out of fear.
Dumaquing sustained serious injuries due to the impact of the collision. She was taken to a hospital where she died from internal hemorrhage.
Balutoc surrendered to their barangay captain a few hours after the incident.
The suspect has been charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to property.
