PH's largest bus conglomerate commits to enhance mass transport

The Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC), who owns prominent bus brands Goldstar Bus and Ceres Transport, has reiterated its commitment to enhance its mass transportation services.

YGBC co-founder Olivia Yanson said on Feb. 5 that the conglomerate is prepared to help the national government improve public mobility, noting that increased travel, whether for work or leisure, will garner economic growth as a whole.

Just this January, the group expressed its support to help stimulate economic activities in Central Mindanao by providing major transport routes in SOCCSARGEN comprising South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City.

Through the Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc. (MSBTI), the group aims to increase services for passenger transportation, as well as agricultural cargo and logistics travel.

YGBC has nine affiliate bus companies under its control namely Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI), Ceres Liner Travel and Tour, MSBTI, Bachelor Express Inc., Southerstar Bus Transit Inc. Ceres Transport Inc. (CTI), Goldstar Bus Transit Inc. (GBTI), Rural Transit (Mindanao) Inc. And the Countryside Food Resources Corporation.

To date, it has around 18,000 employees under all of its companies with more than 5,000 bus units and counting, making it one of the biggest transport conglomerates in Southeast Asia.

Olivia Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, and Ginnette Y. Dumancas were all re-elected as Board members of the GBTI, CTI, and VTI.

Joining them at the GBTI Board are Atty. Collin Derk Y. Isidto, Hernan B. Omecillo and Danny O. Lorenton; as well as Charles M. Dumancas, , Rey C. Ardo, Daniel Nicolas P. Golez, Arvin John Villaruel, Anita G. Chua, Joseph Ellery Villanueva, Hernan B. Omecillo and Alfredo O. Ligo for the CTI Board.

Leo Rey Yanson was reappointed as chairman and president of all three companies, with Olivia Yanson as treasurer and corporate secretary.
