The two got into a verbal altercation that resulted in a double technical foul at the 9:52 mark of the final frame in Game 2 of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals series last Sunday, Feb. 4.

Afterwards, Abueva was seen on the Mall of Asia Arena jumbotron doing a gesture on his one eye to taunt the veteran tactician.

“Ilibre ko raw ng steak. And then, he said he wanted caldereta. I’m gonna buy that tomorrow,” said Gallent when asked about the spat with the Hotshots forward.

It was no secret that Gallent lost his eye in a motorcycle accident way back in 1988 which also ended his career with Far Eastern University.

The veteran coach, however, certainly had the last laugh against Abueva after San Miguel came through with a hammering 109-85 win.

On top of that, Abueva, who was celebrating his 36th birthday, was basically a non-factor for his team after only having three points to show while being hounded by foul trouble in just 17 minutes of play.

Abueva, later on, figured in a heated exchange with Mo Tautuaa’s wife, moments after the Magnolia’s tough loss.
