Guimaras was one of the 68 provincial governments that earned the Good Financial Housekeeping status for 2023.
All its five towns – Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag – also earned GFH titles for 2023.
Gov. JC Rahman Nava cited the achievement.
The DILG awards the Good Financial Housekeeping status to local government units (LGUs) for financial transparency and accountability and publicly reporting their budget and expenditures.
The provincial government of Guimaras as well as the LGUs of the five towns passed the criteria set by the DILG.
It included an audit opinion report from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the years 2021 and 2022 and compliance with full disclosure policy requirements on the timely and complete posting of required financial documents.
With the Good Financial Housekeeping status, the provincial government as well as the LGUs of the five towns are eyeing to earn the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
