The Davaoeños capped their unbeaten run with an 87-85 come-from-behind over Xavier-Ateneo de Cagayan University-Sealcor on Sunday, Feb. 4, at Sarangani Capitol Gym.
Andre Lumanag showed the way once more for the Davao squad and was later hailed RC Most Outstanding Player.
However, it was reserve guard Norman Cagampang who saved the day for Toyomoto Auto Supply as his triple with 0.7 ticks to go proved to be the difference.
The Kingfishers actually had an 85-82 lead with 32 seconds left only to be at the wrong end of Davao City's comeback capped off by Cagampang's gutsy trey. He was also fouled in the process, but purposely missed the free throw to just let the clock run out.
Meanwhile, Bullet Customs Brokerage-Prime Bistro -- another team from Davao City -- claimed the bronze medal by virtue of a stronger win-loss record than fourth-placer Notre Dame of Midsayap.
The Mindanao RC Final Four now turn their attention to the 2024 Smart-NBTC National Finals on March 18-24 at SM Mall of Asia Arena.
