Police Capt. Emman Anacleto, Pulupandan police chief, said the victims’ tricycle slowed down after driver Danilo saw a 10-wheel truck loaded with sugarcane trying avoid a tree branch on the roadside.
A tailing public utility jeepney (PUJ) with eight persons on board hit the tricycle which swerved, throwing Lilibeth off and slumped on the truck’s lane.
Lilibeth was ran over by the truck and died on the spot while her husband was injured and was discharged from a hospital on Sunday, February 4, according to Anacleto.
Anacleto said the PUJ driver voluntarily surrendered to the police and told them that his passengers and conductor were unharmed.
He said they are awaiting Danilo’s decision if he will file a case against the drivers of the truck and PUJ who are now under police custody.
