Majority of Filipinos have expressed satisfaction with how the Marcos administration is running the country, based on the December 2023 "Tugon ng Masa" survey conducted by the OCTA Research.

The survey results released on Monday, Feb. 5 showed that 59 percent of Filipinos are “satisfied with the way the nation is being governed by the current administration,” 14 percent are “dissatisfied,” and 24 percent are “ambivalent.”

Meanwhile, 2 percent responded with “don’t know.”

“The percentage of adult Filipinos who are satisfied with the way the nation is being governed by the current administration increased from 56 percent last October 2023 to 59 percent in December 2023. This three-percentage point increase is the first time a rise in performance rating of the current administration has been observed since October 2022,” it pointed out.

OCTA said the current administration's performance rating in major areas was highest in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Visayas, both at 71 percent.

Meanwhile, it received a performance rating of 56 percent in Mindanao and 53 percent in Balance Luzon.

“Across major areas, the performance ratings of the current administration increased by 18 percentage points in Visayas and by nine percentage points in NCR,” OCTA said.

“Meanwhile, the performance rating of the current administration decreased by three percentage points in Mindanao and two percentage points in Balance Luzon,” it added.

Marcos admin registers ‘lowest’ performance rating among Class E

OCTA said adult Filipinos in Class ABC gave the Marcos administration a 66 percent performance rating, followed by Class D at 64 percent, while Class E gave the current administration the lowest performance rating, 40 percent.

It also reported that the current administration received the highest performance rating from those aged 75 and up (76 percent), followed by those aged 25-34 (74 percent), and the lowest satisfaction rating from those aged 18-24 (47 percent).

Meanwhile, the percentage of adult Filipinos who are satisfied with the Marcos admin’s governance is nearly the same in urban (60 percent) and rural (58 percent) areas, as well as between males (59 percent) and females (60 percent).

Across educational attainment, the highest performance rating was recorded among those with vocational education and college or postgraduate education (both at 65 percent), while the highest in terms of dissatisfaction came from those with no formal education or had elementary education (20 percent).

The Fourth Quarter 2023 Tugon ng Masa survey was fielded from Dec. 10 to 14 through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

It has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level, with subnational estimates for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao at a ±6 percent margin of error.
