A man pretending to be a victim of a carnapping incident was arrested by a member of the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) on Friday, Feb. 2.

Pasay City police chief, Col. Mario Mayames said the suspect identified as alias Ryan, 42, family driver, of Taguig City was arrested at around 1:20 p.m. inside the IDMS office.

Mayames said the suspect who pretended to be a victim of the carnapping incident reported to the office of IDMS claiming that  Toyorta Innova with plate number CBD-2943 was carnapped by three unidentified suspects.

He said that the verification made at CCTV footage contradicted Ryan’s claim and found his involvement in the incident leading to his arrest.

The city police chief said the suspect was immediately detained and charged in violation of the new Anti-Carnapping act.

Mayames told the public to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and report any suspicious activities to prevent and combat criminal acts effectively.

He said the Pasay City Police Station remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
