It’s almost been a week since Pat McGrath’s makeup skills, showcased at Maison Margiela’s Artisanal Spring Summer 2024, went viral. Models stepped out looking like porcelain dolls with skin that gave a whole new meaning to “glass skin.”

Beauty enthusiasts tried recreating the look using one key beauty product—peel-off face mask. But what exact product and how was it applied?

Finally, Pat went on an Instagram Live to share more details. “In my first briefing with John [Galliano], he took me on a journey in Paris by the Seine in the moonlight and painted a picture of these dolls coming to life with this glass skin,” shares Pat to over 17,000 viewers.

Of course, Pat used makeup products from her own label, which includes prepping the skin with Divine Skin: Rose 001 Essence, moving on to Sublime Perfection Foundation, Mothership I Subliminal Eyeshadow Palette, Divine Blush: Legendary Glow Colour Balm, and Matte Trance Lipstick in Guinevere.

She then dusted Sublime Perfection Under Eye Blurring Powder on the face. Using a cotton swab, she applied glue near the inner corners of the eyes, nose, and mouth. This is to help prevent the mask mixture from lifting.

Unlike most beauty content creators who just used one peel-off mask product on their faces, Pat revealed that she used a mixture of four brands such as Freeman Renewing Cucumber Peel-Off Gel Facial Mask, Que Bella’s Hydrating Pineapple Peel-Off Face Mask, Daggett and Ramsdell’s Peel-Off Facial Mask, and Proot’s Calendula Peel-Off Mask.

She mixed these four mask products with distilled water, diluting it just enough for it to go into the airbrush machine. She then misted the mixture onto the model’s faces eight times while covering their eyes with the spoon. Lust Lip Gloss, in Peach Perversion and Flesh Astral, was applied on the eyelids to complete the look.

“The challenge that John gave us was an almost no-makeup makeup look that’s ethereal and otherworldly. It took all of us to another planet," Pat shares on her IG live about the final result.
