Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando urged all concerned agencies to come up with more measures that will protect the province from illegal drugs and other crimes.
The governor made the call as he spearheaded last Thursday, Feb. 1, the 1st Quarter Joint Meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) at Pavilion Hiyas Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos.
During the meeting, Fernando emphasized that he is serious when it comes to maintaining a safer and more peaceful province.
The discussion centered on the possible challenges that Bulacan may encounter as the year unfolds, as well as the actions that the councils would have to take to resolve them.

“Kailangan po nating bantayan mabuti itong mga kaso ng shabu, marijuana, at cocaine dito sa atin. Wala pa tayong ordinansa sa kasalukuyan, (We need to watch closely these cases of shabu, marijuana and cocaine. We still don't have an odinance at present) but I’ll give my directives regarding sa mga checkpoint para masuri mabuti kung may nakakalusot na mga iligal na droga,” (the checkpoints to examine clearly if there's illegal drugs has go through)," Fernando said.
He also expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support extended by each member of the council and stressed the importance of unity to maintain and achieve the council's goals for this year.
“Marami pa po tayong gagawing mga trabaho and I hope na harapin natin ito nang maayos at katuwang natin ang isa’t isa para mapanatili ang kaayusan. Basta sa Bulacan, gawin natin ang kapayapaan, harangin natin ang lahat,” (We have lots of work to do, and I hope we can properly face them together to maintain peace. Let us make Bulacan peaceful)," the governor said.
To have a clearer view, the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Bulacan, PTF-ELCAC, 70th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Force of the Philippines, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government Bulacan also presented essential steps to sustain the implementation of peace and order programs in the province.
These include the implementation of the drug-clearing program in barangays, the conduct of checkpoints, and the enactment of local ordinances to enhance traffic law enforcement.
Before concluding the meeting, certificates of recognition were awarded to the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) for being the recipient of the Seal of Good Local Governance and passing the ideal rating in the 2023 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment and Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC).
