Domestic workers in Region 4-A are set to receive an increase to their monthly wage rate starting Monday, Feb. 19, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced.
Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04 approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) provides a monthly increase of P1,000 for kasambahays in the region.
Effective Feb. 19, monthly wage will be P6,000 for chartered cities and first-class municipalities and P5,000 for other municipalities.
The No. RB-IVA-DW-04 is expected to directly benefit a total of 233,909 domestic workers, approximately 28% (65,408) of whom are on live-in arrangements.
The last wage order for domestic workers in Calabarzon (Cavite, laguna, Batagas, Rizal, Quezon) was issued on June 15, 2022 and became effective on June 16, 2022.
The increase was based on the findings of the consultation and public hearing, plus the needs of domestic workers and their families, the employer's ability to pay, and the region's current socioeconomic realities.
