Alex Eala came up short on her quest for a fifth singles pro title after yielding to Russian Polina Kudermetova, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2, in the W50 Indore International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in India on Saturday, Feb. 3.

The Filipina tennis ace recovered from her opening set stumble by forcing a decider but lost her touch against her higher seeded rival.
After a hard-fought second set, the 18-year-old Filipina ran out of steam and went down with a 0-3 deficit. Eala then briefly recovered and won the next two games to pull herself within just one, 2-3.
However, her 20-year-old Russian foe went on a 3-0 finishing kick.
Eala is coming off her maiden doubles pro title in the W50 Pune tournament with her Latvian partner Darja Semenistaja just a week ago.
Jumping to a career-high Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) No. 184 ranking amid her back-to-back campaigns in India, rest won’t be an option for the weary Eala as she is set next to compete in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open slated Feb. 5 to 11 at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City in United Arab Emirates.
