K-pop artist, actor Hwang Min-hyun to enlist in the military in March


K-pop idol and actor Hwang Min-hyun, 28, will be enlisting in the Korean military next month, his agency announced. 

Agency Pledis Entertainment issued a notice on Feb. 29 that Hwang Min-hyun will be fulfilling his military service starting on March 21. 

On this day, he will enter a camp to undergo basic military training. All Korean men are required by law to do military service.

“We wish to share the news of Hwang Min-hyun's upcoming enlistment into the military, scheduled for March 21, 2024,” Pledis Entertainment said. 

It added, “There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment. We kindly request that you refrain from attending the entrance ceremony or visiting the site of his alternative military service, opting instead to send your heartwarming messages of support for Hwang Min-hyun through Weverse.” 

“We ask for your continued love and support for the artist. Kindly send your best wishes for his safe and healthy return. We will stay committed to providing Hwang Min-hyun all the necessary support during this time,” it said. 

Before enlisting in the military, Hwang Min-hyun will hold his fan meeting “The Peach Garden” on March 8 to 10 at COEX Shinhan Card Artium in Seoul. 

He debuted as a member of boy band NU’EST in 2012 and also became a member of project group Wanna One in 2017. He is now pursuing a solo career. 

Hwang Min-hyun starred in the drama “My Lovely Liar” in 2023. He will star in the drama “Study Group.”
