ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks took centerstage at the ONE 166: Qatar pre-fight press conference and went off as expected.

The brash, outspoken American wrestling machine defends his strap against old rival Joshua “The Passion” Pacio in one of the featured bouts at Lusail Sports Arena this Friday, March 1.
Brooks proclaimed their match to be the true headliner while showing love to the Filipino expatriates who made their presence known in Qatar.
“I think me and Joshua Pacio are the real main event of this [card],” Brooks said.
“Joshua Pacio has a lot of Filipino support and I appreciate that. I appreciate people that love our sport and love that Josh was a World Champion, but times change. Jarred Brooks is here to stay.”
But while he’s always shown love to his Filipino kuyas, Brooks promises to show anything but to Pacio when they meet this Friday.
He feels like he beat Pacio soundly in their first fight, and if the fans still need to see a rematch, then he’ll just beat the Filipino worse this time to prove that he is indeed the greatest strawweight of all time.
“People have been trying to shut me up this whole press conference, man. I think it’s because of these Filipino kuyas. I love all of you Filipinos. I went to Manila last time. And Chatri [Sityodtong], I love you, but I think I beat Joshua Pacio pretty definitely last time,” he said.
“I’m willing to do that again and again and again until Joshua Pacio’s name is completely out of the picture and I am the best strawweight ever. I am the GOAT of the strawweights.”
For Brooks, the only thing that he could do better this time is to finish Pacio, and he plans to knock him out flat to put this rivalry to sleep for good.
“People are underestimating my hunger and my goals in ONE Championship. Now, I’m here to show Joshua Pacio who is the best,” he said.
“I want to knock him out and I want to finish him. I’m gonna finish him this time. It doesn’t matter, at the end of the day, Filipino or not, I will make you guys love me, period.”
