TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Agriculture successfully conducted cloud seeding in collaboration with the Philippine Air Force and the Bureau of Soils and Water Management to ease a dry spell caused by the El Niño in the Cagayan Valley region.

CLOUD seeding was conducted in Region 2 to ease a dry spell caused by the El Nino.
It was conducted in the towns of Iguig and Enrile and this city, Santo Tomas, Santa Maria, Ilagan, and Benito Soliven in Isabela, and Bagabag in Nueva Vizcaya.
Dr. Rose Mary G. Aquino, officer-in-charge regional executive director of the DA-Regional Field Office 2, is optimistic that cloud seeding will provide relief to crops.
Over 800 kilograms of sodium chloride or salt equivalent to 33 sacks used in the operation.
“We are hoping that cloud seeding operations can bring relief to our corn farmers in our region as it is needed in this time. The crops are in vegetative and reproductive stage,” Paul Vincent Balao, regional corn focal person, said.
