The 24-year-old Centeno encountered tough resistance against Fisher but made it through the next round to set up a showdown against Chou Chieh-Yu of Taiwan in the tournament that offers a $35,000 (P1.9 million) grand prize.

The proud daughter of Zamboanga City opened the match on her side as she bagged the first two racks before Fisher regained her footing by tying the game at 3-apiece.

Though there was a fightback from Fisher, Centeno regained possession as the former made a crucial miss on the side pocket -- an opening that the Filipina fully took advantage of.

The Las Vegas women’s open titlist then went on a tear and owned consecutive racks to humble her much experienced rival.

Before entering the quarterfinal round, Centeno survived Japanese Yuki Hiraguchi (3-4, 4-1, 7-6), and Russian Kristina Tkach (4-3, 4-3) in the first and second rounds, respectively.

Meanwhile, Carlo Biado marched into the next round of the 2024 Predator WPA men’s world 10-ball after beating Taiwanese Lin Wu Kun, 4-0, 4-3.

The 40-year-old Biado recently blanked Australian Justin Sajich (4-0), and former world champion American Shane Van Boening (4-0, 4-1) to keep his record clean in the 64-man tournament that has a $75,000 (around P4.2 million) prize.
