Creamline survived the gritty challenge of Akari, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, to post its second win in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City Thursday night, Feb. 29.
Tots Carlos exploded on the offensive lane with 30 kills to finish with a career-high 31 points as the Cool Smashers banked on their chemistry and experience to frustrate the Chargers.
The victory was also Creamline’s 17 straight triumph dating back to the last conference.
The Cool Smashers also got a big lift from Jema Galanza, who pumped in 12 attacks for 15 points including a down-the-line spike that put them at matchpoint before Carlos sealed the win with a crosscourt spike.
Creamline torched the net by firing 65 attacks against an already aggressive Akari, which posted 47 kills.
They also sizzled on the service lane with seven aces including two each from Alyssa Valdez and Kyle Negrito.
Akari turned things around in the second set by exploiting Creamline’s erratic serves, but the Cool Smashers regained their bearings in the third and carried that momentum in the fourth.
Fifi Sharma and Dindin Manabat scored 14 and 13 points for Akari, which fell to 0-2.
