"If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear."
Davao Oriental 2nd district Rep. Cheeno Miguel Almario had this say Wednesday, Feb. 28 in connection with the lawmakers' issuance of subpoenas against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
This development has caught the attention of Quiboloy's friend former president Rodrigo Duterte, who warned the pastor that he would "get arrested" if he chooses not to comply with these subpoenas.
Speaking in a press conference, Almario said he neither had good nor bad things to say about Duterte's comment. However, he said he wanted to uphold the notion of transparency in the proceedings.
"The thing is, quite frankly speaking, if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear," said the neophyte solon from Mindanao.

"We just really want to present also--well, not we, but I guess in the nature of our jobs--when we issue subpoenas, when we try to call also guest speakers, resource persons, we also want to hear from their side so that we can have a better understanding on how to move forward with the things we are trying to achieve," he said.
"There should be a transparent submission of information," Almario added.
The House Committee on Legislative Franchises and the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, have separately issued subpoenas against Quiboloy.
A subpoena is a strong-worded summon--in this case--to a House or Senate hearing.
