BUTUAN CITY – A mining firm in the Caraga region is once again providing assistance to landslide victims in Barangay Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro.
Philsaga Mining Corp., through the MMPRC Foundation Inc. (PMFI), is distributing mats, blankets, clothes, rice, coffee, chocolate malt beverage, milk, noodles, biscuits, and other immediate needs for the landslide victims as part of the company’s humanitarian effort.
“These new provisions will surely give comfort to them,” Philsaga Mining Corp. President Raul C. Villanueva said.
More than 1,000 individuals will benefit from the relief items before the weekend.
Philsaga had earlier conducted comprehensive relief operations in Masara, benefiting more than 1,000 individuals affected by the landslide.
Residents in Masara thanked the PMC for the assistance. “Dako jud ang among pasalamat sa mga nitabang sa amoa, salamat jud sa Philsaga Mining Corp., dako nagud ning tabang sa amoa, ang gehatag nila para maplastar me (Thank you Philsaga Mining Corp. for helping us),” said a recipient.
The PMC rescue team aided in the search and rescue operations in Masara.
“The company intends to show solidarity and fortify the nation's mining industry's brotherhood, even in a simple form of assistance during difficult times,” Villanueva said.
He said they remain steadfast in their dedication to the welfare of affected communities, demonstrating the power of corporate social responsibility in times of crisis.
“With God’s glory, we are committed to help anyone who needs help.”
PMFI Executive Officer Reygela M. Decalit said the PMC is committed to extend assistance “even beyond mining operations and contributing to the community’s welfare.”
