Mayor Honey commends women leaders as city prepares activities for National Women's Month

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan commended women leaders in Manila as the city prepares for the line-up of activities for National Women's Month in March.
She urged all women to get involved in the activities of the city's Department of Social Welfare under Re Fugoso whom she lauded for filling up the entire March with exciting activities.
The mayor cited that many other women were named heads of various departments, units, and offices in the Manila local government unit alone.
"Ito [equality] ay nakikita natin sa mga kasamahang depatment heads kung saan ang pinagbabasehan sa pagpili ay ang inyong kakayahan na gawin ang inyong tungkulin at hindi base sa kasarian (We see this [equality] in department heads where the selection is based on your ability to do your duty and not on gender)," she said.
The mayor also commended the social workers and daycare teachers of the DSW, who go beyond their mandated duties to assist in the local government activities like the distribution of allowances and financial assistance to fire victims and helping rescue street dwellers.
"Lahat ay may equal opportunities sa ating lungsod. Karangalan ko na madaming babae na nag-excel dito sa ating lungsod (Everyone has equal opportunities in our city. It is my honor that many women have excelled here in our city)," she added.
She assured that in Manila, there will always be equal opportunities and rights for men and women and even the members of the LGBTQ+ community.
"Sa Friday [March 1], umpisa na ng National Women's Month, isang malaking pagdiriwang para sa atin sa Manila kung saan lahat ay pantay-pantay (On Friday [March 1], National Women's Month begins, a big celebration for us in Manila where everyone is equal)," the mayor said.
The city government has not yet announced the activities lined up for the celebration.
