Driver, helper nabbed for transporting P1.3-M undocumented narra flitches

ARITAO, Nueva Vizcaya – A driver and his helper were arrested for allegedly transporting undocumented narra flitches worth P1.3 million in Barangay Calitlitan here on Wednesday, February 28.

The suspects were identified as Edgar Untalasco, driver, and his helper Kenneth Reyes.

Untalasco was driving a blue Hino Canter truck with license plates TPW-930 bound to Bulacan.

Suspect were apprehended by Department of Natural Resources personnel manning a checkpoint after they failed to present the necessary documents for the forest products.

Seized from them were 141sawn narra flitches in different sizes totaling 2,757 board feet valued at P1.3 million.

The undocumented lumber and vehicle were taken to the DENR office here.

Untalasco and Reyes were turned over to the police and face charges for  violating Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
