Shunned by the rest of his new family, Inha partners with his intellectually gifted friend Han Taeoh (Lee Jae-wook) to come up with a plan to take over the company.
However, an equally ambitious woman, Na Hyewon (Hong Suzu), with a similarly troubled past threatens to derail their plans forever.
Lee Junyoung, former member of boy band U-KISS, is known for the dramas “D.P,” “ “Avengers Social Club,” and “May I Help You?”
Lee Jae-wook has starred in "Search: WWW," "Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol," “Alchemy of Souls” and “Extraordinary You” while Hong Suzu has appeared in “”Lovestruck in the City” and “Be;twin.”
“The Impossible Heir” features suspense, power struggle, drama, revenge and retribution.
During the press conference for “The Impossible Heir,” the three stars and the director, Min Yunhong, talked about the drama.
Min Yunhong summed up the drama, saying, “‘The Impossible Heir’ follows the story of these characters when they were very young. They had to go through many difficulties, almost at the bottom of the Korean society and they are bent on climbing their way all the way to the very top of the game.”

Script
Lee Jae-wook, who is also in the limelight for his relationship with Aespa’s Karina, said when he read the script for “The Impossible Heir” that “it’s obvious the audiences want to know more and be curious about the story.”
“From an actor’s perspective as well, I couldn’t wait for what unfolds and I remember it very intriguing and gripping,” he said.
Lee Junyoung agreed, saying, “It was a page turner and this time around I’m born with a silver spoon in my mouth but I thought I wasn’t.”
“When I was reading the script, I thought I would be playing a role that is not from a wealthy background like I am myself in real life but it wasn’t. It was really fun to see the script,” he said.
For Hong Suzu, this is the first time that she plays a leading role.
“I’ve never been into this big event so I’m a little bit nervous. This is my first time leading a series. The director and the cast were very nice to me. These two actors are amazing actors,” she said.
Roles
Lee Jae-wook said his character, Han Taeoh, is “the son of a murderer and everybody is finger-pointing at him all his life. He is like a mastermind and architect type of a person. He has this desire to claw his way up.”
Han Taeoh, he said, “is very quiet and he always puts on a poker face. He is not an expressive type.”
“The other characters that I have played so far are pretty much three-dimensional and this time around he’s the more sensitive type. He needs more directions in terms of filming,” he said.
According to Lee Junyoung, his character, Kang Inha, “looks like very cheerful, playful but then, inside of him, he has different thoughts and ideas.”
“I think it was fun to portray that duality inside of him. And I was working together with Taeoh, played by Jae-wook here, I really loved that. We are of similar ages. And I haven’t worked with actors who are of my age. I was a little nervous but very excited. We had so much fun on set and he would lead me all the time,” he said.
Lee Junyoung has played as a villain in past acting projects.
“When I play an evil character, people like my character as a villain but this time around, he is also a good guy. I like that,” he said.
About their chemistry, Lee Jae-wook said, “I think the chemistry showed through on screen and Suzu, who plays the character of Hyewon, was also a good friend of ours. So we were all having fun on the set. Instead of saying we had good chemistry, I would just like to say we had so much fun on the set and we wanted to bring that child-side of ourselves.”
Na Hyewon said her character, Hong Suzu, “grew up in a dark and dreary background. She had that kind of a childhood but she is very honest about her desires.
The story of “The Impossible Heir” is made against the background of “chaebol,” which means a family-owned conglomerate. It is a race among people to claim the “chaebol” throne.
There are many Korean dramas with the “chaebol” theme and to set “The Impossible Heir” apart, Min Yunhong said, “I put a lot of thought into creating a new chaebol-backed’ story.”
About “The Impossible Heir,” Lee Junyoung said, “I think it’s really all about great memories. And the fact that we were all creating something together, I think that was basic energy we all shared on the set. This gift that we prepared, I hope you will be happy receiving it.”
“There are going to be a lot of intense and powerful scenes as well as really fun elements. I hope you will enjoy the drama,” said Lee Jae-wook.
