BACOLOD CITY – Three persons were injured in a grenade blast in a store on the Eco-Tourism Highway in Sitio Medina, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, February 27.

Police said the victims were a 75-year-old store owner, her 42-year-old son, and store attendant aged 34.
Police Major Ryan Villasario, deputy chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, said that a 39-year-old nab arrived on board a motorcycle and hurled a grenade in front of the store.
Three persons sustained injuries but are now stable condition at the San Carlos City Hospital.
Villasario said that a policeman and his wife who were having coffee at the store were unharmed but the windshield of the lawman’s vehicle was damaged. Also damaged were the motorcycle of an injured victim parked in the area as well as the glass shelves of the store.
The suspect fled but was arrested in Barangay Punao and he was identified and located through a closed-circuit television footage.
Villasario said they are probing the motive as the suspect has yet to speak about the incident. He added that they are checking the background of the suspect to determine if there are other involved in the incident.
The suspect faces appropriate charges.
