CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police arrested 28 individuals for illegal gambling during a two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations in the Caraga region from February 24 to 25.

The Police Regional Office 13-Regional Operations Division said 23 were apprehended for playing “tong-its” (card game), four for cockfighting, and one for “Swertres” and “Last Two.”
The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested 15, Surigao del Norte PPO, six; Agusan del Sur PPO, five, and Butuan City Police Office, two.
Seized from them were P14,083 in bet money.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said the suspects will be charged for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 that prescribes stiffer penalties for illegal gambling.
“We implement our standing policy against illegal gambling, particularly on illegal numbers game operations,” he said. “We remind the public not to try any kind of illegal activity or else they will face the full force of the law.”
