PAMPLONA, Cagayan – Two policemen died and three colleagues were injured in a car crash in Barangay Nagattan here on Tuesday morning, February 27.

Police Major Llewilyn D. Guzman, chief of police here, identified the fatalities as Police Master Sgt. Bryner Bakidan, car owner, and Police Corporal Edrix Dumaguing, driver, both assigned to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group at the Laoag City International Airport in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Dumaguing lost control of the vehicle on a curved portion of the national highway and the car overturned several times.
Three police officers were injured – Police Master Sgt. Marcial Padangi and Police Patrolmen Jason Vilasic and June Lumingis, all residents of Tanudan, Kalinga.
The victims were on their way to the Laoag City International Airport when the incident happened.
Bakidan and Dumaguing sustained serious injuries and died afterwards. The injured were taken to a hospital.
