A week after reaching her 100th birthday, Adelaida Cullano Rabi of Taytay, Rizal received a centenarian cash incentive from the Taytay municipal government.
Taytay Mayor Allan de Leon, together with other local officials, turned over the check to Rabi's children as part of the local government’s program providing financial incentives to centenarians residing in the town.
Rabi turned 100 on Feb. 19.
A certificate recognizing Rabi’s longevity was also awarded by the municipal government to Rabi through her children during the same ceremony which was also witnessed by Taytay's local government officials and employees.

The office of the mayor said Rabi was given P30,000 cash gift by the local government as part of the municipal government’s counterpart measure to the national government’s Centenarian Act of 2016 that gives P100,000 cash incentive to those who have reached the age of 100.

The latest centenarian from Rizal province has yet to receive the mandated cash gift from the national government including the felicitation letter from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
On Feb. 26, President Marcos signed into law Republic Act 11982 or the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2016 which gives cash incentive not only to the centenarians but also to some Filipino octogenarians and nonagenarians residing in the country and abroad.
Through the expanded Centenarians Act, senior citizens are entitled to a P10,000 cash incentive upon reaching the ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 and will receive P100,000 upon reaching the age of 100.
The amended law for the centenarians was authored by Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.
Rabi’s children said they hope that the awarding of the national government’s cash gift to their matriarch would happen very soon so that the centenarian, who hailed from Pagsanjan, Laguna but now resides in Taytay, Rizal would still enjoy the mandated benefits due to her.
