SC holds outreach program at 'Bahay Tuluyan' in Malate, Manila
The Supreme Court (SC) brought rice, noodles, canned goods, and toiletries during its outreach program at the “Bahay Tuluyan” in Malate, Manila on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
In a press statement, the SC said the outreach program is among the court’s activities in support of the 2024 One Billion Rising Global Campaign: Rise for Freedom.
It was undertaken by the Employee Training and Development Division of the SC’s Office of Administrative Services in coordination with the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary (CGRJ).
The good were handed by OAS, led by Atty. Simeon Brigola Jr., to “Bahay Tuluyan” represented by its Center Manager Lecyl Roja.
The SC said that “Bahay Tuluyan,” which was founded in 1987, is a children’s rights organization which works to prevent and respond to abuse and violence against children, and ensure all children’s rights are fulfilled and protected.
“Bahay Tuluyan” also serves as a temporary shelter for children and provides a safe family environment for them. It has two other branches in the provinces of Laguna and Quezon.
Earlier, the SC had called for unity and inclusivity as it reiterated its commitment to ending all forms of violence against women at the kick-off activity in support of the 2024 One Billion Rising Global Campaign last Feb.12.
In its website, the One Billion Rising Global Campaign: Rise for Freedom advocates, among other issues, “end violence towards women, gender nonconforming and gender expansive people; end violence towards the Earth; end racism, understand and dismantle patriarchy; support Indigenous women leadership in their call to protect the biomes and diversity and indigenous lands; cultivate care, community, trust, sharing, interconnectedness and compassion; uphold cooperation rather than competition; and refuse the inequality of wealth and of injustice.”
