Samsung unveils the Galaxy Ring
At a glance

A future may happen where people would kneel to propose using high-tech rings. The ring would be able to track your health, monitor your location so your fiancé would know you’re safe, and later where the NFT of your marriage certificate would be stored. Maybe the ring would beep once, letting you know your spouse has entered the house. And with discussions of neuralink technology, maybe even transmit thoughts into the ring to make it vibrate, as a subtle way to let your spouse know to decline an invitation to go out with the in-laws.
Look, strange things have been happening, that thing that caused the world to shut down, talks about UFOs from governments, disappearing monoliths, and a bunch of AI doing wild stuff. So, a high-tech ring with so many capabilities shouldn’t be out of the question. For all we know, it could be the sustainable option, no more digging up the Earth, right?
So, anyway, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Ring – the device they’ve teased during the last Unpack event.
There will be three colors for the Galaxy Rings: Gold, silver, and black. Because of course. Someday, if this technology picks up, Samsung or someone else, will probably start adding more hardware and disguise them as fake gemstones.
It will also include a new feature called My Vitality Score, which is said to also arrive on Galaxy Watch 6 and S24 phones. It’s basically all the data about your health, heart rate and so on, you know the stuff.
Now, ring sizes are important too. So, Samsung is offering nine fits, from size five all the way to thirteen.
Samsung did not give many details about the battery life. All they said was it’s going to have a “long” battery life. How long is shrouded in mystery. And how long will it stay “long” before the battery starts to lose its own health? A year? Two years? I’m interested to know, if, let’s say, the ring only lasts a few hours, would it be possible to wirelessly charge it with your S24 phone? That should mitigate some issues, right?
The Galaxy Ring will launch later this year. Samsung did not give any specifics when that may be. But if we must guess, Samsung typically has two Unpack events. The second one, usually set in August. So, maybe the Galaxy Ring will appear alongside the Z Fold6 and Z Flip6?
