Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando advised the senior citizens in the province to adopt a healthy lifestyle to protect them from common ailments.
"Ngayong tayo ay dumating na sa ganitong edad, dapat mas lalo nating alagaan ang ating katawan dahil ang kalusugan ay ang siyang tunay na kayamanan at kaligayahan ng ating buhay. Health is wealth ika nga," he said. (Now that we have reached this age, we should take better care of our health because health is wealth.)
Fernando said this in his speech before hundreds of elderly people during the celebration of the founding anniversary of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association Baliwag Chapter in Baliuag City on Monday, Feb. 26.
He said he goes to bed at 10:00 p.m. and wakes up at 8:00 am.
The Bulacan governor said he has learned not to eat rice, because sweet camote, potatoes, fish, and vegetables are okay with him.
Fernando said as people grow older, they should eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid fatty foods, exercise, and practice discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
