Flash flood, landslide warnings issued in Davao Region due to LPA's trough, easterlies
The trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies could cause flash floods or landslides in the Davao Region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

"Sa latest satellite image, may namamataan tayong mga kaulapan sa southern portion ng Mindanao so asahan natin ngayong araw mataas na posibilidad na makakaranas tayo ng mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkidlat, at pagkulog sa areas ng Davao Region pati na rin sa ilang bahagi ng Soccsksargen (In the latest satellite image, cloud clusters were observed in the southern portion of Mindanao, so we expect high chance today that we will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms in areas of Davao Region as well as in Soccsksargen [South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos])," PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," will continue to affect Luzon.
Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Western Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the amihan.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
