February is 'not just for lovers'
Fred Perry and Transit Records joined forces for a night of music, art, and floral design

February, while it is the shortest of all the months in the calendar, has so many events. There’s the celebration of the Lunar New Year. Locally, the month is observed as National Arts Month. But for many, it is Love Month, with Feb. 14 being its special day dedicated to romance. Lovers everywhere go to great lengths just to let their Valentine know how much they love them. But the thing is, February or Love Month isn’t just for lovers. It is for everyone who has big love to give. And leading that mission is British fashion label, Fred Perry.
Last Feb. 16, the brand known for its timeless fashion and enduring style partnered with Transit Records, an independent electronic music label based in Manila, for a night of music, art, and floral design. Aptly dubbed “Not Just For Lovers,” the event gathered individuals to party and celebrate the month their way at the Annex House in Poblacion, Makati City.
“Not Just For Lovers” also marks Fred Perry’s year-long “Get Ready” campaign. It centers on “the meticulous preparation, where each choice becomes a carefully curated expression of personal style and spirit.”
“It's a ritual, a celebration of the self and the shared experience of coming together. Fred Perry has always been about the people who wear it, the musicians, artists, and creators who make it their own. And with ‘Not Just For Lovers,’ we begin to know what goes beyond the traditional notions of date night.”

No bouquets, just floral installations
On display that night were the floral sculptures of Kim Jasmin Monsalud Francisco, also known as Paraluman Flora. Made of live blooms, the pieces were not just there to marvel at and perfume the air. They are there to provide an immersive experience where party-goers can add their flower of choice to the sculpture, making them even grander, collective works of art presenting a "vibrant floral tapestry that embodies our shared experiences and aspirations.”

Cheers and eats
The Annex House had this old-world charm that provided a perfect romantic setup for the event. Its rustic interior and Filipino vibe were also echoed by its curated drinks and treats for the event. Our favorites from its signature cocktails menu were the Mango Rum and Pinay Colada. The first one was just refreshing and vibrant with a subtle spice while the latter is more dreamy with its coconut and pineapple mix. As for the eats, people could do no wrong by ordering its Asin Tibuok Salted Popcorn and Sausage ‘n Pickles.

Dance the night
In charge of the dance floor was Transit Records’ roster of local DJs. Putting spin a kaleidoscope of disco, techno, and house music were Celeste Kuh, Christal, Teofilo James Reyes, Thirstkid, and Trust, which kept the dance floor pulsating.
